I found Alberta Cross’s album Broken Side of Time when I needed something external to mimic my despair. I felt my heart in that album…I sat alone in airports with that album…I was completely broken with that album. And yes, I was a tad melodramatic while listening to that album.
Sure, we usually find what we are looking for, so it’s not surprising that when listening to Songs of Patience, I felt that yet again…Alberta Cross and I were sympatico. On Crate of Gold, Lay Down and Bonfires, it’s clear the music has matured, it’s more upbeat and less broken, but it’s still about longing…it’s about searching for something ineffable…and that is something I will always understand.
